Well guys I fiddled with the trans a bit today!! Talk about a stress relief. Im running a 5:1 apply lever, I installed it because it came with my trans kit from Patc. I didn't know it was taboo to run one in a diesel.
Well I heard suncoast runs them so I called them (very nice people, and informative) and they transfered me over to one of their transmission guys "Ernie". He asked how I set the trans up and came up with a quick solution, a second spring for the second gear servo. Well after about 3 hours of messing with that, I now have a crisp 2-3 shift to go along with my other crisp shifts.
Big thumbs up to Ernie.
Now I adjusted my line pressure regulator 3 partial turns out to increase my line pressure a smidge, to see if it would delay my shift any. Nope, not one mph.
So after so careful inspection I looked at the angle of the arm as it went through its throw. It appeared to be beyond perpendicular to the tv cable when it hit full travel. Now this would mean that the tv cable wouldn't have full leverage on the apply arm, and probably why I couldn't get the 3rd gear shift to hold out as long as it does zip tied.
So I modified the extra tv arm I had to help cure the problem.
It helped a little bit and makes for a better shift placement. I can now how 3rd gear till about 50mph instead of 46-7ish.
Some of you are probably wondering what's wrong with that, but remember, I'm still running 3.07 gears, 55mph would be the sweet spot!!
