transmission swap

Postby warhammer92 » Mon Oct 28, 2013 7:43 pm

So something went wrong in my transmission lost all gears except second and reverse.dropped the pan and it was silver.I'm not paying for another rebuild cus its ridiculously priced.I have chance to buy a nv4500 for cheap with the upgraded input shaft.what do I need for the swap: adapter plate, flywheel, drive shafts and of course the pedal assembly ans slave cylinder

Stock hydraulics will work just fine.

Buy an Advanced Adapters kit (which if interested, pm me), or like what I did...........you'll need

Adapter plate, bellhousing, drive shafts can still work (but shorten rear and lengthen front for it to be "right"), starter and that's it.

edit - I thought you already had a getrag............so you'll need hydraulics and pedals, but get 1st gen hydraulics or I believe it is the 94-95 that are the same.

oh, and flywheel and clutch assembly of course

Couldn't I just grab everything off a 2nd gen

off topic (but eric will get all excited about this).

Got on my truck yesterday getting on the freeway.......hit about 95 and then broke the tires loose because I had to turn.

My only thought was this......."I WONDER HOW FAST THIS THING TRULY IS? i NEED AN AUTO..." not gonna happen though.

Yes.... but the drivelines won't fit and the hydraulics (depending upon the year) won't be correct for the firewall end of things. And a guess, but I don't BELIEVE that the pedal assembly will work.

PM Philip, he would know on the pedals and hydraulic assembly. But I do know the 1st gen hydraulics will work all the way around.

Remember this is in a Ford so I'm just getting the assembly out of another ford and I can probably adapt the slave cylinder. And the nv4500 is out of a 96

95,, then broke them loose??? And you broke them loose because you had to turn???
Did you get all "fast and the furious" on us and grab you E brake at 95!!??? Is that how you broke them loose??

Hahaha. You should put a auto in that thing, you could concentrate more on where your driving instead of shifting gears! I predict it running like Harvey from J&H performance's old 4x4 ramcharger. Wheelie popping front tire bouncing 12 second 1/4 mile.

Yeeeehaaaaaa

Well......doing 95 on an on ramp is way too fast, this particular corner would probably be classified as a "50mph corner"........also with as much body roll as this thing wants to do it really takes the weight off the inside tire.....

On completely dry pavement it will hold traction at any speed, but turn the slightest bit and it's a nasty deal.

My great grandmas station wagon had body roll like that. My cousins and I took up two lanes of the local highway swerving back and forthat about 35mph. Inside tire fry on comand.

Gotta love big blocks and station wagons.

what rear end do you have? forcing the inside tire to rotate as fast as the outside, and having a locked or posi rear end will always break em loose
