Organic is your everyday clutch. I'm not totally sure what they are made up of.

Ceramic is just that...ceramic

Same goes with kevlar.

Important stuff............for daily driving and heavy towing, organic is the best way to go = best driver friendly.

Now..Valair came out with a kevlar/ceramic clutch to go in between the organic and ceramic style. It engages fairly smoothly but has the holding power of ceramic (close anyways).

Ceramic is a competition clutch designed for sled pulling and racing. Ceramic can be used for daily driving and towing but is not designed for it. I daily drive a dual disc ceramic/ceramic and it is ok once you get used to it, but if I towed I would get something else.

If one is going to sled pull with a non ceramic clutch, they are going to burn the facings quite a bit and have increased clutch wear.

And lastly.........Southbend = more streetable and daily driver friendly clutch. Valair = more of a competition behaving clutch. Southbend is just as durable, but is a little more expensive than Valair. So question is, is the better behaving clutch worth the little extra money? to some it is, others it is not.

I run a dual disc valair organic. I think it is a good option for daily driving but still have great holding power. It is more expensive and shifts a bit slower than a single though.

2wd or 4x4? If you tow a trailer at all and have a 2wd I don't recommend it. I have the Valair 650hp Ceramic single and it's a great clutch, but I can't back up with a trailer on. The clutch grabs and the truck jumps and it really sucks. If you have a 4x4 you can put it in 4 low and get the lower gearing you need to back up. I love my clutch, but it has it's shortcomings.

I run a Valair dual disc ceramic ceramic with a solid hub..............towing can be done, backing up can be done........backing up is a real pita without a lot of finesse.

From what i have seen/read, if you do any amount of towing stick with organic or at most a ceramic/kevlar. Single or double depends on your power output.

Whoops, sorry RCCummins. Looks like i just re-iterated what you said in post#2.

Yup, pretty sure it's this one, http://www.valairinc.com/performance/im ... 279-04.jpg I put in an NV5600 flywheel and starter spacer, and they made the disc with the Getrag hub.

It is a full ceramic. It's the 3rd one down this page, the one that says, "Not for towing!" http://www.valairinc.com/performance/24nv5600.html
