can i use a 48RE converter on my -92 46RH?

Postby Oskar » Mon Jan 06, 2014 6:37 am

hi, i'm damn tired of my stock converter, and i just found a suncoast TC for sale localy, but my question is if it can be mounted on my 46RH transmission, the lockup clutch won't work, i know. But other than that, is it any difference in splines or dimensions? it would be great to get the RPM's down a bit...
here's the ad, it's in Swedish but you can see the pics.. http://www.blocket.se/vi/51292688.htm

You would need a 2nd gen engine adapter and starter to use it. That converter is about 1.5" deeper than a 518 converter.

spline tooth count is one different between lockup and non lock up input shaft.
93 w250 6 speed 4" exhaust, caution, work truck, she's no beauty. building 1 ton dually 4x4, dana 80, 48rh, 205 Scratch the one ton, bought frt. dually 4x4 98 12 valve with the tiny rear doors. rides so much better than the 93.
