gasser 727 behind a cummins?

Postby sloppy2nds000 » Sat Jan 25, 2014 9:47 pm

can a 727 from a motor home be a substitute tranny? if so, is there anything that has to be swapped to make it work in stock trim? and if not can they be built up to work behind our 6bt's?

i googled it and didnt find a solid answer.

The diesel 727 has it's own, specific bell housing pattern. No other cases will work behind the diesel.

Yup, sorry, man. :(

I think the internals are mostly the same, you may be able to pirate some parts out of it if it'll help you.

The Cummins version of the 727 (and those forward) have beefed-up planetary gear-sets. Those in the 3-speed section have four spider-gears, and that in the over-drive section has five. The heavy-duty planetary gear-sets are unique to the diesel units. The clutch-pacs have increased clutch/steel counts. The governor weights of the diesel unit are made of brass. The heavier weight allows for the lower shift-points common to the diesel. They are not interchangeable with the gasser version.
