auto trans problems?

Postby m.sayle13 » Sat Feb 01, 2014 3:04 pm

Hey guys new to the site, thanks for adding me. Im looking at buying my first, first gen cummins and im trying to find a 4wd with a 5 speed, but not having a lot of luck, I have found quiet a few automatics though but I've heard that there not the greatest and I don't really want to do the 5 speed swap or rebuild a auto right off the bat. I don't want to put a lot of extra power in it , mabey an extra 80 horse or so. Only looking to haul a trailer with about 3-4 thousand pounds. How would the auto hold up to these conditions any ones opinion on this would be greatly appreciated.

I think you would be fine. I pulled the pan and turned up the line pressure some and adjusted the bands, new filter. Would service trans and make sure fluid is clean and at the right level. These trucks are made to tow more than 4000 lbs. Welcome to forum. :)
