what happens if tranny cooler gets clogged?

Postby sloppy2nds000 » Mon Feb 10, 2014 3:12 pm

what kinda stuff might happen if the tranny cooler gets slightly clogged/blocked up?
like as in still flows fluid just not necessarily the correct amount of fluid?
and how much fluid should come out the return line from the cooler in a set amount of time?

Cooler plugs up you usually burn up the transmission.

well say that it doesnt burn up, will any wierd stuff happen with the transmissions operation? i guess what i mean is what if the flow rate slows down but not enough to burn it up. im in michigan, its cold here this winter. all day plowing yesterday and my tranny barely ran warm when i check it off the dipstick. its boarder line cool.
i dont know what temp the trans should run, or what you all might see for tranny temps under load, but ive not yet had it get hot, the engine oil is hot at 180 compared to the tranny fluid.
