Trans shifting in and out of OD

Postby 1993W250Ram » Fri Mar 14, 2014 11:10 am

Hi Guys. I am wondering if someone can help me with an issue I have just started to encounter. I have a 93 518 Non lockup trans that is a sun coast transmission with 20K on the rebuild. The issue I am having is when the truck gets up to operating temp it drops out of OD and then goes back in. If I am doing over 55 though it is fine. I replaced the TPS thinking that is what it was but no luck. I have replaced the speed sensor for the speed odometer and still nothing. Is it a possibility it could be the Shift solenoid in the trans? And if it is why would it only do this after it is warm? If someone could help it would be awesome! Thanks!

Check the temp sensor in the line. Sometimes mine will drop out of OD even though I have it engaged on my switch.

Yes if it gets to hot it will kick it out of OD.
