fresh getrag rebuild now not shifting

Would messing up the preload cause not to go in gear ?
1991.5 ..getrag super40. 40,horse injectors,4"to 6" exhaust , bhaf 2nd gen intake,custom pin timed to the head ..1/4 14.9@93mph 5,500' with a little propane

In which gear? All gears? Hung in neutral?
93 D250 ,5 speed,4.11s,k&n autometer tach pyro trans boost guages,GDS 60mm h1c 14cm,honed 5x10,hplp/reg,1/8 timing,M+H M2 fuel pin, tims cooler tubz

When I did mine it was the shift forks not quite in the right place. It required pulling the top cover off again and fiddling with it
Ducati- professional nap taker, and thread derailer extraordinaire
Brownie: 80 dodge heavy half. Ghost cummins under the hood, and some sinister plans
The Roo Hunter: 93 w250, lifted, 2 whistle machines, and a bunch of other go fast goodies, uhh..... not there yet
Jaeger: 12 ram 3500. Lifted, exhausted, and fed an excessive quantity of air
The Huntress: 02 Jetta TDI. No muffler, egr, horsepower

Really first second third
No binding or grinding just not engaging

I don't think that's preload related,that sounds like a top cover issue.

I can yank the top cover through the floor , i'll check that before i pull the trans and t-case again .
sat. was a REALLY long day. 12hr in the garage by myself , by the time reassembly came the mind was mush, couldn't figure out what went wrong.

found out my MAJOR !@$#!@$# instead of setting .006 i set .06 on preload top cover is perfect.

How did it feel when you rotated everything? Even move at all? lol

Yeah it moved but using pipe wrench on t-case coupling
