Need help pronto!

Postby Higbean » Tue May 13, 2014 7:33 pm

I know this site is really slow, but I also trust you guys. I had my trans rebuilt and the 2-3 shift is overlapping. The guy is trying to tell me my Throttle Valve Cable is set up backwards. I never changed it from how it was set up when I got it. I'm assuming it was this way from the factory. The mechanic is telling me it needs to pull the cable and not push it. When I was getting it set up I read a whole bunch of stuff on how to do it. Mine has always been set up so the throttle pushes the TV cable towards the back of the truck and at the trans, it pushes the lever towards the back of the truck. The truck is two hours away and this is the only pic I have. Is it set up right? Please respond ASAP.

The way it's working is factory.

That trans has valve body trouble or the front band is too tight,if the shifts are ting up.

I believe he has it confused with the lockup transmissions.

518s diesels push the tv lever, all others are pull type...Doesnt' really matter how it moves it as long as the lever moves rearward with throttle input.

Just spoke with him and he said he did have it wrong. I think it's a valve body issue related to the trans go kit we put in. I just need to get them a new TV Cable so they will stop blaming me. Apparently mine is binding a bit. Thanks for the quick responses fellas!

Were there any other hard parts changed out??? Like apply lever??? I had trouble when I first ran the 5:1 until I installed the supporting mods a diesel Trans requires.

Hey Sutter, I did all the parts Revmax wanted me to have. That includes the apply lever. All planetary gears, sun gear, clutches, bushings, Trans Go, 2nd gear servo, Spec Rite TC and the SFI flexplate were all done. I actually had it back down to the shop. They said they drove it all over and concluded it was the TV cable. Drove down there (2hrs) to pick it up and the 2-3 shift is no different. I need to block it up again and see if the wheels are still stopping on the 2-3 shift.
