Andy, the diesel trannies got the same shafts as the gassers, input, intermediate and output.

I have a 47rh and two 518's. One is a 93 diesel and the other a 92 gas unit. Just figured I could make the 518 lockup since I have two trucks they need to be used in. I figure if the 518 has handled this beating for this long night as well freshen it and make it a lockup. So I should have all the pieces for the trans between the 2 I have?

So from my research I can use a 47rh with the 518 lockup input correct?

Since I moved I can't find my engineering changes book, I would keep the input shaft and reaction shaft support together. Yes you can do that.

I'd like to get a used A518 and set it up with lockup to just swap in at once. Just trying to see if I understand correct...the VB must come from a 47RH as well as the torque convertor...but the rest of the parts can come from a 47re?

The valve body is the only 47RH specific part you'd need. The rest is just 47RH or RE lock-up stuff. Does not matter which.

The 518 gas transmission parts will work as well.

Because 518 gas is lockup right? The torque converter is not 47rh specific also?

Yes the 518 gas is lockup and run the 47rh convertor.

Dumb question: is reaction shaft support the front pump on the transmission?

So parts are being gathered!

Can anyone go into detail on how they made lockup automatic (instead of with a toggle)?

And can overdrive remain as it is not on my A518 via the TPS?

Yes, your od can still function off the tps. You'll just need the 47rh plug. People have used governor pressure to lock the converter at a certain speed.
