slipping out of overdrive

Postby doc187 » Sun Feb 22, 2015 5:28 pm

I've got a 93 w250 with an auto trans. When it's cold it's hard to get it to shift into overdrive and then it wants to come out of overdrive. The guy I bought the truck from put some resistors on the overdrive module and said it made it easier to adjust it but I have no idea how to do that. I'd appreciate any tips you guys could give me.

Don't worry this is a common problem and simple to fix. Its almost always a throttle position sensor issue. I was able to clean mine and its back to normal. You could also replace it with a new OEM (about $250) or a swap in a similar era Mopar one with some modifications (about $30).

Thanks, I've got the shop manual so I'll do some reading and try to get it fixed.
