47RH SWAP OD and Lockup HELP!!!!!!

Postby JD92D350 » Sun May 03, 2015 11:28 pm

Hi

I'm going to be doing a 47RH swap in my 92 D350 soon and I already know what I need because I have it all already. My question it with overdrive and lockup I know you can put them on a switch but I don't want that I want it to be automatically like a automatic Trans should be. I know about the pressure switches and where they hook up at I just need help with wiring them any info on this would be greatly appreciated thanks

If you have an auto already just splice your wires now. 12v to the middle wire, OD to the front wire. The lock up wire just run to an adjustable pressure switch. I would get a pressure gauge and hook it up to your gov port and with it up on jack stands or driving down the road find out where you would want lock up. (after od kicks in) and then take that pressure reading and preset the switch with air. Put that in the gov port and then run your other wire to ground.

If I was going to do it. I would get a 3 way switch and Run the lu wire to the normally open side and then ground. The other side of the switch I would run to the pressure switch and then to ground. Then you could manually control lock up or set it to be controlled with the pressure switch.

Yes I have a 518 automatic in it now so I could just tap into the original overdrive wire And just use 1 pressure switch for lock up?. Another question right now once in awhile my overdrive, cruise and speedometer goes out pretty sure the ecm/pcm is going south I think I should put overdrive on a pressure switch to just in case the speedo goes out too?. And will lock up go off by itself using the pressure switch?

yes. it should go off. you need to find a switch that the closing and opening of the switch are at different times. Some switches open 10psi lower than they close. So if you preset the switch at 50 psi to lock (lets go with the 1psi to ever mph) at 50mph then when you slow down to 49\50mph it doesn't always hunt or cycle lock up. you have to get down to 40mph\40psi before it unlocks. Could be or it might be your vss giving fits or the ratio adapter.
