NP205 rebuild kit

Postby Remps » Mon Jun 15, 2015 3:25 pm

Who sells a complete rebuild kit for a np205? 4wd hi still works, 4 lo sounds really rough, 2wd still drives fine. Front output has a good 1/2" side to side and up and down play.

Zbag had a nice kit I bought when i rebuilt my NP205 on my M37 project. Had all the gaskets, bearings, etc. Iirc it didn't have all the shims I needed for the idler gear, but I had some used ones out of another parts tcase.
I was told eBay has cheaper ones, but never used them so cant say yes or no to quality

Is there replacement gears available as well, if they need replacing?

Not positive they have every gear, but I'm sure they do. They had a new input gear, was under $80 I believe.
I only bought the input to build a married 205 out of a divorced 205 I had laying around.

The NP205's a re pretty bullet proof. I highly doubt you will have any problems with the gears. When I rebuilt mine, and converted it from 23 spline to 29 spline, I used a kit bearing and seal kit form E-bay. Can't recall who it was from, but it has been OK. The paper gaskets were super thin though, and I didn't put any additional sealant on them, so I have some leaks from that. But it used Koyo bearings, and it has functioned well so far.

I used a temkin kit from summit racing. Had everything I needed. Found the part number from rock auto and they were out of stock, so I entered the part number on google and summit had it.

Being as your in Canada I would try North West Fabworks http://www.northwestfab.com/Transfer-Case-Rebuild-Kits_c_73.html

Make sure your rebuild kit has a front input seal and dodge round pattern gasket. I bought a kit off ebay and it was missing these two
