Thanks. Good to know. Dorman roll pins should be ok right? Can't find getrag 360 specific.

Got almost all my parts. I'll head to a junkyard with my shifter stub to find a cheap shifter out of a truck. I'm having trouble getting the shifter fork and shifter lug off of the 5-R shifter rail. Any tricks? I might have mushroomed the end of the rail by accident but I'll try to get it tapered back out.

I'm really curious to know why dodge or whoever said the stock clutch was good enough for towing. I'm not doing any towing whatsoever but I'm just curious why they put a weak clutch behind a powerful engine?

I have the getrag manual but I can't find any torque values for the bolts. Especially the bellhousing to the transmission

It's a low value, something says around 40-50 lb-ft. for the bell housing. I'll have to check my FSM tonight...

It's a german transmission, and I have found all german fasteners should be torqued Guttintite.

Haha I hope my torque wrench has that setting.

I have everything to do the swap. Picked up a shifter, shifter boot and a few other things from a 1992 w250 or 150 gasser. Was afraid the shifter was going to have a different thread but it screws on perfectly.

727 is drained. Unplugged all the coolant lines and wires dropping it tomorrow. What do I do with the trans radiator?

Ran into 2 problems. Trans mount from the auto is different than the manual. Biggest problem is the driveshaft seems like it's too long. The front end of the truck is jacked up almost to the point there the tires are off the ground would that cause the drive shaft issue? I have the 2 piece driveshaft with the a727

Found out the trans mount is simple to make. Let's hope when I install the crossmember and lower the truck it will fix the driveshaft issue

As far as the trans radiator lines. When I did my swap from 727 to nv4500, I just made a short bypass.
I pulled out all the trans lines and cooler (big tube thing next to the engine). From there, I rerouted the one line back into the heater lines.
It was a pretty simple bypass.
As far as your driveshaft issues, I would bet you will have to relengthen them. When I did my swap, I had to have both my front and rear driveshafts cut and redone.
Good luck!

Ok I'll have to check those lines out.

As far as the driveshaft goes: 2wd getrag and 727 are not the same size. Getrag is around 2.75 inches longer. Found a front rear driveshaft out of a 92 getrag 2wd that should work it's about 3" shorter than my current one. I've also got a transmission mount on the way. Seems like only the 4x4 was the straight swap. Also anyone looking for a shifter stub for a getrag steer clear of the ones from allstategear now known as bearingkit. It seems like good quality until you put it in the getrag. The set screws bind because the two slots on either the ring or the stub are off.

Can't catch a break.

Shortened my drive shaft and it will fit but the problem now is the u joint that bolts on to the transmission is too small length wise (from cap to cap). The caps do not fit snug up against the notches on the yoke. There is about an 1/8" gap from the little notch on the yoke to the u joint cap. The shop I took it to replaced the U joint with a spicer 1410. Everywhere online I looked says that's what I need. My other u joint fit snug in the yoke. Is this normal? Ill call the shop tomorrow and ask to see maybe they put the wrong u joint in but it fits in the driveshaft perfectly not in the transmission yoke

Yoke is really worn out. Reason why it wouldn't fit. Ordered another one then I should be done with this swap

Well started the truck up. Put it in reverse and it moved!! Put it into first and it moved like it should. Then came puting it into second. Nothing just grinded the gears. Didn't go completely in. I put in new shift forks and tested every gear engagement, they all worked. I'm guessing something happened in the ball/pin area that locks the shift fork into place unless it could be other things??

Are you sure when you put the cover on the fork went into the slot and not to 1 side? I've done that before.

Very possible I'll crack open the top this week and have a look. I swear I went through all of them before I put the transmission in

PToombs was there any bad damage to the fork when you did that?

Nope, it just would shift in to a gear and then it wouldn't come back out. The shifter was loose after it went in gear, and it was stuck in 3rd or 4th because the fork wasn't attached to pull it out.
It may be in the top cover area, you'll have to look and figure it out.
