Bad clutch or master/slave cylinder?

Postby 93DodgeCummins » Sat Nov 14, 2015 9:45 am

The other day i was driving to work which is just across town. About half way there i noticed my truck would not disengage fully which made it hard to get it in gear when i was stopped. When i was stopped and it was in gear with the clutch disengaged i had to hold the brake to keep it stopped. Then it seemed like it was engaging and disengaging while still holding the pedal in. It kept acting up like that when i drove back across town. Then drove it later and it seemed to work just fine. Is this early signs of a clutch going out or a maybe a hydraulic issue?

I think i got it figured out. It squeals a little bit when the clutch is disengaged so thinking throwout bearing. Anyone recommend any good clutches?

Valair or South Bend. Both are great clutches with excellent customer service.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Do you recommend replacing the flywheel or get it resurfaced?

Getting it resurfaced should be good enough, unless it has been done before. Flywheels are like brake drums and rotors, they can only be cut so many times before they are too thin. If you have it done, try to find a place with a Blanchard Wheel, it's a grinding stone, not a cutter. The finish is preferred over a cutter on a flywheel.
