Truck shudders when backing

Postby DodgeFreak » Thu Feb 18, 2016 9:56 pm

Hey, I don't remember if I've made a post but I want to get an internet opinion on this. It shudders when backing up a gooseneck, and when I had roughly 10k lbs on the gooseneck I couldn't take off in 1st it would violently shudder. I would have to start out in 2nd and slip the clutch to even get it moving, hated to do that but it was better than twisting a drive shaft. I'm assuming it's a warped fly wheel since it will do it in reverse or forward.

It's been doing it for awhile but it's gotten worse. Stock clutch as far as I know.

Hmmm, I'm not too sure.

I hear the new Powerstrokes pull super smooth.

Sound like a boogered flywheel to me, I guess. Any chance you're starting to get into the rivets on it? How long has it been in there?

I would check your rear diff first for broken off teeth, or there obviously broken parts. Pop the cover and have a look inside....quickest and easiest things first. ;)

But really it sounds like the clutch is fubard.

Lol they do when they run! It's been in there since we've owned it. Maybe 50k miles. I changed the lube about 1k miles ago and it all looked good. I may just pull the clutch before I buy one since it's not a daily driver I can have it down a while.
