IIRC on my 97 the HE fittings were JIC where the lines connected.

That is the correct order for flow.

Thanks guys, I got JIC fittings to go into the tranny and did a mock up with the old cooler hose. I need 27 1/2 feet of hose if I use the original steel line to the HE. I haven't bought the hose yet, looking for a good deal online for +300° hose because my local parts store wants $4.65 a foot for 1/2 ". Seems high but I might have to go for it. Any suggestions?

I dont remember the size, I want to say 3/8", but I paid about $6/ft for the atf hose I used on my rc a few years back, only needed 3' though. Have you searched online for bulk spools?

3/8 may be too small. The factory size is weird, almost like 7/16 ID. Maybe it's metric, never thought of that. I think I would go with the 1/2 hose. I can't remember if you said, was there any hose to the aux cooler under the bed? Maybe you can reuse that and save some money. The other thing is to call other shops and get prices on hose and fittings. Where I work we make hoses, there is a JD dealer a mile away, and 2 hose shops about 3 miles away. So there are plenty of places around, just have to think about where it may be available. And don't mix manufacturers of hose and fittings, buy all at the same place. Most places won't mix parts, like putting Gates fittings on Aeroquip hose. It's bad JuJu.

Don't worry about questions, if we need to vent we have Spencer for that. ;)

Got it all together today, runs like a champ. Thanks Philip and Ike for the advice. Don't think I could have done it without your help. HE is working great, no leaks. :D

Until the next time.

I went threw my parts today. I do have a OD switch. I don't like the way it feels. It does not have a good hard click when you push it in.

I used a second gen shift lever and ran its OD switch wires to the terminals of the factory OD switch, so both work.
