Can't recall if anyone has used the 3.07's with a 5 spd...but a few have done it with a 6 speed.

There have been quite a few that have used that combo. If you tow heavy in mountains the 5 spd isn't the best choice with those gears. CumminsPower59 is running that setup now. He will pop in I bet pretty soon.

75 MPH with 235 tires is going to put you right around 1750 to 1800 RPM.

Well, my truck is far from stock, so the only time it felt 'weak-ish' was when I put 315 series tires on it, because of the larger mass to rotate. Think of it as a shorter lever to move the same load ;) 3.07's and tall tires don't mix. Currently, my pile has 285's (33") and does much better. As for RPM's at 75, its 1800.

I absolutely LOVE the 3.07/ Getrag combo. I also use it strictly as a daily driver with a topper and 8-900# of shoeing tools nd supplies in the back. Slight increase in MPG, and it did quiet down the road and engine noise. It is nice to go 80 and be able to carry on a phone conversation.

I also have tuned the engine- honed 215 injectors, pump that flows double stock flow, 366 gov spring, 60mm turbo, etc.

I would not recommend it for towing 10k or better on a regular basis, but lighter loads it would do just fine. We have my wife's modertely hopped up 04 for heavy towing.

Don't worry about it I loved my 307 and a 5sp also ran a 35in tire. Pulled a trailer with big loads quite a bit sometimes consisting of a cornpro trailer and a 580 construction king back hoe. Never felt sluggish to me! It would spin the tires 120 in 4th on a chassis dyno.

I had that combo once. If you pull heavy trailers it's hard on the clutch to back up or launch the truck. Also, the rpm is almost to low in 5th at 60 mph. Unless you drive on the freeway a lot it's not worth it.
