Getrag clutch.

Postby DodgeFreak » Sat Apr 30, 2016 4:13 pm

I just put a valair stock hp clutch in my 92. The pedal has play at the top. And it's a little bit hard to get into first and reverse. Not horrible but it doesn't slid in either. I also noticed that it starts engaging almost immediately off the floor. Is my hydros going bad?

How hard is the pedal? The pressure plate might have had a lot more force than the old and did something to the slave.

I've had it happen on just replacement part store clutches.....pressure rates are different and it plays hell with the slaves. Could be your issue

Pedal seems easier to push.....would you upgrade the master and slave then?

If its easier,I have no idea. I'd check for air then. it could've had air in it all along and with a worn clutch you might have not noticed it.

I guess I'm not sure after driving it again. It's still firm to push down but it feels different so I'm not sure if it's easier or just different pedal feel. Best way to bleed it?

You can try two man pump up and bleed.....but I'd just pull it all off and bench bleed everything. I usually have better luck with that vs on the truck.

Supposed to be. Or maybe in your case, used to be! There should be a plastic bushing that goes in the eye on the rod. Usually they wear out and fall out, then the pin on the pedal gets worn part way thru.

That is probably why you don't have enough to disengage your new clutch. Is the pin and eye ok? If so maybe you can get away with a bushing and be good.

Thanks, I didn't have time to dig into it yet as my work car decided to eat some valves.
