Manual Valve Body Compatability

Postby Begle1 » Sun Feb 17, 2008 5:00 pm

If a manual valve body fits a 727, what else will it fit?

Will it work on a A518?
Will it work on a 47RE or RH?
Will it work on a 48RE?

I'm selling my old one and don't know what exactly it would work on.

Um, 727. it lacks the solenoids and fluid passages for lockup and/or overdrive

Thats not a leak, its the external lubrication system.

I didn't think that there were any oil passages in the valve body that affected overdrive...

I'm looking for A518 manual valve bodies now and I can't find any? I know they exist since I have one...

So how sure are you of that, Mike? I don't mean to be rude, but I can't tell if that was rooted in experience or conjecture.

Pretty sure on that. The gas 727 valve body I have is a lot different than the A518, 47RH and 47RE valve bodies I have. Have you called anyone about getting a manual valve body? I'm sure KTA knows of a source.

Alright, thanks.

Suncoast shipped my transmission to me with a manual valve body. I don't know they would've gotten it. Might be in-house.

But it is kind of strange that TurboAction, TCI and Hughes don't make them for A518's, isn't it? I guess there just isn't a market.

I don't know where they come from, but Haisley Machine has A518 manual valve bodies for sale for just under $400.

Top of the middle column.

Haisley's best if you call. They have a woman with a nice voice on the phones. :D
