Will an automatic NP205 bolt up to a 47RH?

As long as it is a 4wd 47 rh I think it will.

Does it use the coupler that the 518 to 205 uses?

nope you have to get a 47rh from a 4x4 and the t case adapter is built into the trans tail housing. i think the 47rh is also a 29 spline output like the getrag so you might have to find a 5 speed t case to put behind the newer auto??

Yup, it does. There might be a seal in the tail housing of the 47RH, just pop that out and use RTV to seal the flange. If you where going to bolt it to a 47RE you would need to have a spacer made for between the trans and transfer case.

Whoa, hold the presses, 727's, A518's, 47RH's and 47RE's all have 23 spline outputs.
The 4x4 (I don't have any 2wd ones) tail housing on the A518 and the 47RH are the same. I have a tail housing on a 94 47RH that was cast in 92, I also built a 47RH using a 47RE and my old A518.

Thats not a leak, its the external lubrication system.

The 48 is very similar to the 47, internals are stronger.

JD730, thanks for the help
One more question, how is the getrag mated to the 205?

Same way, only it has a 29 spline input shaft. It used the larger input bearing where the auto transfer case with the 23 spline input used the small input bearing.

Nope, 1994 and 95 uses a heavy duty version of the NV241HD, 96 was another change, I know my 2000 has a 241DHD, which is heavier than the 94/95 ones and the 3rd gen trucks use a 271.

GPSMatt,
Do you have a dodge 205? I don't know if you can take off that adapter and take the ford ones off and interchange those.
