torque converter

Im in the market for a good converter. I want something real tight for the hotrod.

I have looked at suncoast, ats, goerends etc... I am fairly certain in most cases youre paying for the name on the box more than the converter.

There are several small converter shops around the country. I would think that if the big names can build it so can any other converter shop.

Is there one anyone here has used one of these guys with good success.

This truck will never pull a trailer and probably wont even have a hitch on it. Im looking for a hotrod not a puller.

What are your reccomendations.

Probably around 450-500 hp with a p-pump motor and a fairly light weight truck ( shooting for around 4500 pounds )

I've heard stories about some Hughes convetors that were so tight they could hardly even move on a stock truck... They were pretty cheap when I was in the market.

I don't know of any small mom-and-pop shops. If I did they probably wouldn't be small mom-and-pop shops...

spec-rite converters. they use the same steel stator that DTT and other major shops use. give them a call and tell them your plans for the truck, they will build you what you need.
