Anyone survive a ruptured heat exchanger?

I have coolant in the 727, does it have to be disassembled/rebuilt or can it be saved in the truck. Bought as a donor truck, price was right even considering trans problem. I remember something about this in one of the TDR magazines.

So a leak developed somewhere and spouted a bunch of ATF all over the place?

Not gonna hurt anything any worse if you fill it back up and see what happens, are you?

I know A/F is bad for babbit bearings, not sure on the bushings in the trans.
Drain the oil, swap the filter, and run it. Maybe drain it again in a couple days.

Do you need a replacement heat exchanger?

If the A/F mix was low in water content it might be all right. The stock Dodge clutch plates do not like water. The linings tend to fall off if soaked with to much with water.

Drain, refill, go for a drive. It will not take long to find out if there is a problem.

Well, I was told that it sat for 3 years in it's current condition. I found a good 727 so I'll probably just swap it out anyway.
