Postby cummins king » Fri Jul 11, 2008 8:22 pm

so the converter is slipping real bad now so i called up suncoast to get a bunch of stuff ordered and the total came to $2200, not bad, plus shipping, but they wont ship usps witch sucks cauze now im going to have to pay 600 to 700 for custom fees and i just wont!!

So i call up a local shop, im just waiting for some final pricing but
i getting a converter, billited saft, deep pan, valve body, and some better bands. Can you guys think of anything else?

he said it would cost me aprox. 3200 tranny out, rebiuld and tranny back in, i think its an okay price?

If the parts are $2200, that brings the labor end to about $1000. Not bad, but not the bargain of the month. If the local guy can get his ducks in a row, and get it right the first time, it'd be worth it. I had a guy contact me about building him a Getrag so he could get rid of his auto. He's had it rebuilt twice by a local yeah-hoo outfit.

That's alot of money for no bands. Have you called PATC? They may work with you on shipping too. I can get the whole deal for my 47rh with a tripple disc and all red eagle/ kolenes, larger bands for 1500. It's an additional 600 for the billet input. And they pay the frieght!! Go to eatmyshifts.com for their #.

With the mods your doing I bet your getting close to killing a stock shaft. If you can get a converter that can throw all your going to be making at it.

Does anyone make a hardened shaft for a 518????

Some of the gasser 518's are lockup converter. Non of the diesel 518's are.
