Uh Oh?!

Postby nojackwayne » Thu Sep 04, 2008 9:25 pm

I changed the trans oil/ filter today. the fluid looked good. real tiny shiny junk in the pan(not much) and what appeared to be black/grey grease in the pan(1/8" thick)

So, I filled her up and took a drive. Everything was good, so I was doing some launches. Nothin crazy, 5 psi. THen on the 2nd launch In Drive, it left nice, then popped into Nuetral! Then again! Okay, so is it my linkage? I can put it back in drive after and everything is fine. *Except for my huh? old torq. converter* :D :D time to upgrade! :wrench:

Check for loose engine mounts. If the engine moves around it can move the linkage to netural.

There is also a couple of plastic bushings on the linkage cross bar. Look them over to.

all right I'll check those things philip. thanks for some input.
Trans. are a bit of a mystery to me. I know the concept and can spout off cool upgraded parts for a wishlist, but when I hit up my licenced mechanic buddies for help, they shy away from tranny issues. The one always tells me to find a good shop.
So I ask him who he uses and he can't really give me a straight answer! eg. "oh I used so and so for a while, but jim-bob left and the place went to sthi...."

Your not the only one there are a lot of people that way. Thats why I try to help whenever I can. In the older auto and light truck field there are few models of trans I haven't had apart. Stick or auto.

As far as the go fast goodies. I haven't played with anything that goes fast in a while. So I am a little behind there. LOL
