Stuck tranny

Transmission in my 90 dodge doesnt seem to come out of 3rd gear. Fluid seems fine. Don't really know where to go from there.

it wont downshift or 3rd is the only gear (i.e. no reverse nuetral or park even.) ? if 3rd is the only gear i would say a valve body issue. if it wont downshift possibly a band is gone, pump is bad, or a valve body issue.

Actually, is it a 3 speed or 4 speed tranny?

it could be either. either a 727 which is 3 speed, or a 518 which is a 3 speed plus overdrive.

It could be a getrag truck also. All he said is the fluid is fine. All the trans have some form of fluid in them.
