4wd 3rd gear launch capable button clutch?

Postby bgilbert » Fri Jan 23, 2009 2:15 pm

I can get button clutches built locally. I'm looking for something that will handle a 6k lb truck doing 4wd 3rd gear launches in the 1/8th mile drag strip. I've heard locally like 12+ buttons  , and 6 button discs being sold. Just looking for any ideas on the subject of button clutches. It's my 89 which someday will be making 600rwhp 8) . Currently it has a South Bend FE, which is not a drag racing clutch.

C'mon Bill, just step up to a twin disc, then you know for sure...I have a feeling that you will be the one to find this out all on your own. I'm sure it may do it once, or twice, but how many times? How long are you going to ride it out of the hole? How many passes are you going to be running? Am I going to have to come out to SOP and talk with you around the camp fire again? Do you just want to put down a good time once, or are you going to start bracket racing?

Can you find a local truck with one of their "special" button clutches?
