The MTG is GL4 gearbox oil. Severe Gear is a GL5 hypoid gear oil for diffs and such. I believe the 205 is just a straight-cut gearbox. In all reality they are not that much different except for whatever EP formulation Amsoil uses to make Severe Gear GL-5 rated - probably the same base stock. You just don't need the GL5 rated fluid in a transfer case and it's probably more expensive.

Another question... I need to clean out the lines in te truck to get the old fluid out. Any sugestions? Also, Should I just remove the Heat exchanger? Is it really needed? I was thinking of ditching that and the factory cooler and just running new rubber lines from the tranny to a aftermarket cooler mounted in the grill. Opinions?

Do the bolt in Sprag. I've tore out three of them when I had my old truck together. I plan on doing one when I go threw my 47rh.

I just could not get one fast enough. We thaough we had one but we didn't and we are on a time crunch so we skipped it and prayed. I dont spend alot of time in 1st gear though and w/ the manual VB that applies the low/reverse band that should help also. I dont think I'll have any problems with the sparg.... maybe

We upgraded everything else though shy of billit shafts and the sprag

I hope she holds for you. I just never could get one to stay together for me. I always tore the back of the housings out on them.

We will see. I'm looking for another case so that I can build another slowly and retire this one to a back up tranny. Gonna get the best of everything. Billit shafts, sprag, ect. This one was a little of a rush job and on a VERY tight budget. Only got about $800 in it including the Converter. My buddy that is building it used all his spare parts at no cost to me.
