TPS Trickery

Postby TugboatPhil » Mon Jan 08, 2007 9:57 am

I have been messing with this thing since last summer. I'm too lazy to take it apart and clean it, and too cheap to replace it. Is there a way of removing the nut underneath, and holding it turned all the way, to make it "think" that the throttle is wide open all the time?

I control the OD from my shifter switch and I don't care if it does it on it's own. I'm not electronically smart enough to replace it with anything either. Has something like this been done successfully?

Yes. You can lift the switch up/off and drill two small holes across from one another and insert a heavy wire, which would "pin" the switch to full tilt. You'd have to set the switch where you want it and know it will work in that location prior to drilling and inserting said pin. The TPS then, would not rotate nor would it have to be placed back into original location atop the pump's throttle shaft.

I have seen one member perform this and his TPS is setting on top the pump, only it's mounted upside down. Just to hold it from bouncing around inside the engine compartment.

The other member is Phillips5

BTW, this topic needs moved to the Transmission Forum.

Sorry I put it in the wrong place. I'm not used to having so many forums to choose from. :)

Do I lose any RWHP because of this??

No. However.

I'm going to be speaking with MUDDY, and if all goes well, your going to be renamed "Village Dunce" as opposed to "Member"

Yes you did request "Village Idiot". However, we are reserving that.
