Falls out of overdrive

Postby CSM diesel » Tue Jul 17, 2007 10:19 am

I am looking at a 1992 W350 to buy and the guy selling it says that the transmission falls out of overdrive every once and a while. Does this sound like a easy fix? valve body? switch? tv cable?

Thanks,

Ben

these things are notorious for tps problems. if thats it, its and easy (and cheap) fix with a potentiometer. as long as its not an internal failure in the trans itself, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

What he said. The TPS is very likely, but it can also be caused by things like flaky wiring to the crank sensor. Not a deal breaker on a $3k truck.
