fluid leaking manual

Postby sid » Tue Jul 17, 2007 9:15 pm

Hi, I have a 91 5 spd. i was looking underneath the engine and saw fluid dripping from the starter and what looked like a big drain hose. i looked around to see what was low on fluid. It appearred to be the hydrolic clutch because it was low. The master cylinder has been changed. There is no fluid driping from the tranny side. Is there something I need to look for like a hydrolic hose that might be leaking?

That big drain hose is the blow by tube or you can call it a crank case vent tube also. Don't worry about a few drips from it. If your seeing large amounts coming from it then worry.

If we were talking about a Detroit 2 stroke diesel. Those tubes were called slobber tubes and they normaly were constantly dripping.

the big drain hose is the crankcase vent tube. it will drip oil, especially if your partial to higher rpm full throttle accelleration  . if that's all thats dripping, don't worry about it.

the clutch slave will drop fluid level slowly as the clutch wears. same as the brake cylinder. fill it and keep an eye on the level for a while. if it drops, find the leak and fix it.
