Postby 1991cummins » Sat Jul 21, 2007 11:52 am

i want to know if first of all the trannys are the same on the 2wd and 4wd, then if i have to watch out for differant gear ratios in the rear and front when buying a front axle and trans case, third do the 1tons of this year have leaf springs in the front cause i thought they did but im not sure... any imput would be great

Yep. All first gen 4X4s are leafs on all four corners. Planning a conversion?
I have 3.73s in the rear and 3.54s in the front of Big Ugly and dont have any problems with it but I only go 4 wheel in loose stuff.
I'm not positive about the trans issue in regards to puting a T-case between the trans and output housing. If that is what you are planning. Or you could put a divorced one behind and not worry about matching parts.
That would require some fab for support of the T-case but a better angle on the front shaft if you go high.
