A dime is supposed to be .053" thick.

The specs for the kit from TST call for an air gap of 0.049" to 0.051".

I didn't have a feeler gauge at school when I did my KDP, so my dad (a heavy equipment mechanic) told me just to use a dime and it would be close enough. Apparently it was a reference he has always used in a pinch. Honestly, though, I have had my truck down for some paint since, so I have yet to verify that it in fact works. I think it should be close enough to do the trick, though...

I used the dime trick when I replaced mine, works fine.
Don't have any brass feeler gauges (the manual specifies non-magnetic), hence the dime.

Well this is an update, turns out it WAS the CPS. Got it today and put it on and the tach worked and my alternator started working again also. Now I just gotta fix my fuel shutoff solenoid and I will be back in business I guess.
Now I think I am getting paranoid, I havent ran the truck for a few days and it seems to idle just a tad rough.
But it may just be in my head lol. I dunno. I will drive it around a bit and see how things go.

On a side note, where do you suppose one could find another triple gauge pod like that. That's flippin sweet.
