Starter issues? or something else?

Postby cumminz90 » Wed Aug 24, 2011 6:44 pm

Hi guys im trying to get a second opinon on possibilities of what could be wrong with the 93 in my signature. First heres a little background info the trucks was previously automatic (a518) and i converted it early this spring to a getrag with a southbend dual disc clutch ( i assume it has the nv5600 flywheel to accomadate the two discs But has starter spacer from them) any way the truck has started and ran fine for the last couple months no issues to date then all the sudden one day the starter begins turning the motor then disengages and starts pretty much making a grinding noise and wont turn the motor over. As soon as you try it again itll do as i described before and kick out. So i swapped a known working and not long rebuilt starter( i put new brushes and contacts in roughly a year ago used slightly then removed from the 90 in my sig because im going to a 47rh) on and does the same thing. Do you guys have any thoughts on this i thought possibly the starter ring gear could be messed up but the teeth look like brand new and it just started out of the blue. What do you guys think it could be bad ground? (i have brand new made by my self soldered on ends battery cables going from the ground on battery to the engine, then a small ground connected to the same spot on engine to the frame and the another going from frame to cab will clean and ohm them out tomorow just to check i know these are bad about grounds :D ) flywheel or with my luck just two weak starters? and i did swap in a brand new 1050 cca battery to see if that solved the issue it did not........ sorry for the book just trying to post as much info as i can to see if anybodys had this issue thanks for the help guys!! :D
