You dont need the harness if youre handy with the wires, theres a tech article somewhere that I read that gave the breakdown of where each wire goes, just do a google search

In a 92 you can buy a harness to wire it. I just put one in my 91 by wiring it in, not too bad.

This is the harness you can buy:

As said above there is an article somewhere about making one yourself.

Well I guess my tach isn't gonna work. Been messing with it but won't read.

I looked and found a connector tape to my wiring harness and ordered a Tach because of what I read here and other sites. And it said it would work on a 1991.5
Yes I ordered before I did my homework
I just found some of the adds selling Tach to be a little misleading
According to service manual for a 1991 that plug taped to wiring harness near fuse box has 3 wires and is for “Snowplow Previsions”. Also there is no reference to any changes in the 1991.5 Service Manual Supplement.

UPDATE- I found were SomeOne explains how to wire the alternator.
http://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/1st-generation-ram-forum-1989-1993/132600-wiring-alternator-tach-drive.html

or buy the crank sensor
