If the switch is shorted, that would just mean it could start whenever.

If the wire that goes from the switch to...whatever it switches...is rubbed through, it would still short 12v to ground when the switch is closed. Put the truck in drive and see if it still pops fuses when you turn the key on.

You may still be on the hunt.

Also, when you plug the connector back in can you see it?

It's likely that the wires are still being pulled over into each other again when you plug it back in.

well went over all the wires under the trans. i found a couple spots where the wire had been rubbed through, but it wasnt touching anything. but i replaced the parts of wire anyways. it is still blowing the fuse when its plugged in. so maybe the sensor its in went bad? cant find anything else under the trans anyways. could that connector on the trans run anything else other then the trans? should i be looking else where? or does that have to be it? im happy if its tranny related because i can drop it off at the trans guy and tell him he needs to fix it sense i just paid 1500 for a rebuild.

I'd have to think it's that switch. I've seen electrical parts do some strange crap before.

someone just posted this

That's one of the circuits I listed, the OD solenoid. The dark blue wire goes back to the ignition switch without any fuse in thepath. The red/green wire goes to the PCM to control OD. Looks like a direct short to ground in the transmission.

Without it you'll have everything but OD

so i guess i get to drop it off to him first thing in the morning and let him know its his problem.
