odometer not working even after a gear replacement.

i got a early 91 d350, the odometer didn't work. i replaced the small gears in the speedo. they were all chewed up. the odometer worked for about 200 miles then quit for about 100 miles then quit again. i pulled the speedo back out and looked it over (i thought possibly one of the old gear teeth got in a spot where it shouldnt have gotten) but everything checked out. i put it back in and it worked for 40 miles then quit for about 45 miles then was taking a few miles then not. it goes on and off. do you think this is a speed sensor or the wiring for the sensor? also when my headlights are pulsating. i dont think this has anything to to do with the odometer but, stranger things have happened.

Mine was act like that one time and I found that my sensor and reduction box was loose. Tightened them back up and all was well. It is not totally impossible for the sensor to come and go thou

where can you get the little speedo gears?

mine odometer came and went for a while, then it quit, now my speedometer jumps all around. i've taken off the reduction box and oiled it, everything turns easily, checked the wires going to it and they weren't chafed through anywhere i could see either.
any suggestions?

Those two wire electonic speed sensors go bad also, have seen my skip around a bit, replaced the speed sensor and the plug and have been working fine since, that speed sensor can affect your cruise control and your OD shifting if an automatic!
