Single wire alternator conversion

Postby m880cummins » Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:39 pm

Looking for some single wire alt info. I plan to do a little thread about it here once I figure out what I need.

I have the factory denso on it right now. I know that's a good alt and I hear they can be made into a single wire. My main holdups are cost and down time.

I know PA performance offers a single wire for $200 range but I want to know if there is an application I can look up at the parts store where I work etc.

Thanks

*THE* GM single wire is P7127SE but that is for a vbelt configuration unless you swap pulleys. Its real cheap but there is no point in going away from the stock unit.

I can swap pulleys no problem. As long as the GM one has the same mounting configuration I will do it. I can get them cheap where I work as well.

You can get that same alternator with a serpentine belt.

He'll have to use the factory alt pulley no matter what, few more groves than the replacement will have.
