Postby cumminsgirl » Thu Jul 12, 2012 4:48 am

Anyone tried to replace their gauge lights with leds? Ever since I changed the bulbs the whole board just flickers badly.. Dodge here in town claimed they couldnt get me any of the originals

If you replaced all your lights with new then your probably loading your dimmer in your light switch causing to get hot, inturn causing the lights to flicker. White gauges.com has led lights for our trucks.

Did you get the right bulbs? I know there are several different wattage bulbs that look the same, maybe you got bigger ones? Most auto parts should have them. I'd check the connection (plug) on the back of the dash too, it may be a little loose and not making good contact, causing flickers.

Well I thought I got the right ones. Checked the connection. The current bulbs I have are 194 LEDs, tonight when I came home it didn't even really flicker much they just didn't work.

sounds like you've got a problem in the printed circuit board on the cluster. if it wasnt doing it before you swapped the bulbs but its doing it now somethings loose. leds draw way less amps than regular bulbs. check the main connector going into the cluster too.

Pull out on your switch to turn'em on,then wiggle and twist. See if they blink on or something.

194's are the ones, same as from way back in the 70's. ;) Maybe the switch or connection like was said.

Are these those cheaper Chinese led lights you buy in bunches on eBay?
