my tach quit working and i absolutly cant figure out whats wrong with it do the crank sensors tend to go out?

Sometimes the plug gets corroded at the front of the head. It could be out of adjustment, it should be .050 from the balancer.

IIRC, you are supposed to use a brass feeler gauge to set it as well.

What's the difference between a regular set and brass other than what they are made of?

well its not out of adjustment, and my fan belt ripped off wiring when it exploded so i dont have a plug anymore and i cleaned all the connections from the tach to the sensor and still nothing

Maybe 1 of the wires where the plug used to be is corroded or came apart? Do you have AC or cruise? If they don't work the sensor may be bad, it lets the PCM know the engine is running and lets them turn on. OD also if you have an automatic.

haha i didnt have working AC or cruise to start with, ill take a closer look at the wires and maybe replace the sensor

question:

what if you have no charging, no A/C, but have cruise and overdrive? Charging and A/c do work intermittently, but I cannot find out what it takes to make them work.

1993 Dodge W250

I have good grounds, wire resistance in specs, no damage, damn near completely stock other than extra lights, clean connections everywhere.

CPS or computer? Or??
(2) 1993 Dodge W250 4x4's, diesels, one automatic, one stick. One white, one red.
