Pyro thermocouples

Postby xohcef » Sun Oct 28, 2012 5:33 pm

So I have an old set of R&W products gauges and the egt hasn't worked since the truck was driven home 5 months ago. I've been searching new egt/pyro gauges but have also found j, k t, whatever type thermocouples for sale how so I go about determining which one might fix my existing gauge?

Most U.S made gages are type K's. Japan made gages are type J mostly.

Look at the wire colors on the thermo lead. A light yellow/ red is a type K. It might be best to remove some of the cover wire to find the colors. A type J uses a white/red combo. Old faded wire covering for a type K can look white.
