headlight stuck on brights

Postby depogrig » Sat Aug 17, 2013 4:08 am

Since I bought the truck the high beam indicator has always been on when I switch the headlights on. I'm assuming the switch is on the column lever? Its broken and since I'll be junking the body and using a jeep column eventually I don't want to fix the lever. Any ideas on how to switch it to low beams?

What year truck is it? If its got the small, 89-90 column then there's a little metal rod that connects the lever to a switch further down the column. Does the lever click into position when you pull back on it?

Wait, am I reading that right in that the lever is broken off? If so, you could probably pull the little cover where it's supposed to go in and work that rod by hand. (That's what she said). You may also be able to get under the dash and see the switch as well and work it that way.

Sorry need to fill in my signature. Its a 90. The lever plastic is broken at both screws where it attaches to the column, so it kinda works for turn signal and wiper, but forward backward is no go.
