Everything works but voltmeter.....but......

Postby RCCUMMINS89 » Wed Oct 16, 2013 1:19 pm

Today.....I hit something, and pretty hard. It's all good though

About a half hour later I noticed my volt meter wasn't working....as in no power to it.

Also, the check engine light is slowly coming on and off gradually.

Ideas? Everything else is working just fine.

Driving down a dirt road.............had to go around a branch across the road...............some dip flippin facking holy (&^)(&(^()*^_(*&*()((***&^&*(TY^*&) a-hole..............left a 3' diameter log in the bushes..............

Direct and I mean DIRECT contact with the right front tire. Damn near rolled the truck, and I was only doing 10mph.

I'd be on the phone with the town or county right afterwards to let them know what happened and see if they check it out.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Don't think a plate busted loose in the battery do you, that'll cause all kinds of bad stuff to happen.

No.... volts on the battery are within spec...........everything is charging.

It just seems to be the gauge.

How does that system work? But I do notice that my check engine light is randomly coming on and off???????????

A hard lick like your truck took, apparently went straight to the gear box.....which sits UNDER the battery. I stand by my statement  put another known good battery in there and try it. If that doesn't do it for you then I'd start tracing wire.....something could have pulled apart.

Another thing, are the wires for the crank sensor loose, flopping around.....maybe the rubbed the fan idler pully or something.....hell idk

If everything else works.......including the headlights, high beams and even a pyrometer (most sensitive damn pos ever installed into a truck) and the battery shows 13.2 volts after sitting for 24 hours and it charges at a rock solid 14.8 How could it be the battery?

The cps is good to go as well....as I still run through that terd for my charging system.

but, I think it is in the back of the gauge cluster...... as my temp gauge now reads a consistent half a tick lower now.

This tells me it is a funky ground to part of the gauge cluster.
