rerouting gauge wires due to clutch master cylinder any idea

Postby jmd4993 » Tue Nov 05, 2013 10:05 am

i just put a getrag in my 92 w250. it was an auto so i had my gauge wires going through that grommet on the firewall. now that i realized that the clutch master cylinder goes there i was wondering what others have done to re route their gauge wires. any ideas are greatly appreciated thanks.

i have isspro EV2 gauges by the way.

I drilled a separate hole nearby to run the wires thru and put a grommet in the hole. If you look below the steering column there is a grommet there that the tail light harness goes thru, you may be able to run some thru that one, or drill near it for another hole.

thats what i was thinking thanks. did you daisy chain your gauges? cause when i tried to do that to mine the current stopped or just wasnt getting enough becasue the gauge with the main power to it would work and the others wouldnt and it was super annoying because they say to use the splicing clips.

I don't remember how I did it. I have the Optix and they are LED illuminated. I think I used a heavy wire and then spliced off it to the gauges. I may used a 14ga wire, then put the 2 power wires for the gauges into 1 side of a butt connector, then the 14ga into the other side.
I have daisy chained things in the past, and I usually use a heavier wire all the way. I either strip the middle and fold it over and insert it into a crimp connector (an eye or spade) or I cut it, strip both pieces and insert them both into the eye or whatever.
