rewiring pryo,boost,fuel pressure gauges

Postby jmd4993 » Tue Nov 05, 2013 11:56 am

i have to rewire my gauges because i did a getrag swap and the clutch master cylinder uses up the grommet whole on the firewall my wires were originally put through. when i was first doing my wires they said to daisy chain them together on the power, ground, and dimmer wire to save space. so i did this with splicing caps but for some reason the power wasnt transferred through the splicing caps in some areas. i had to use individual power wires for some gauges and ground wires as well which doesnt make sense to me. im pretty new at the electrical stuff.

i was wondering if you have to have a bigger gauge wire to splice from so there enough power to go around for all the other wires.
any information is greatly appreciated thanks a lot

they all work now but i what i really want to know is why the slicing caps didnt work really. i read its because the main wire need to be a bigger gauge than the trailing wires cause when you go to a smaller gauge wire apparently theres more resistance which will hurt the current flow.

i was just wondering if there was a another way to daisy chain the wires to make it a more compact setup thats all.

:thumleft: It is john deere blitz black i sprayed it, for the first time ever trying

Correct it will! Unfortunately no thats probably the most compact way of doing is the right way! If you dont crimp them good enough or if the splice is to big for the wire is the only problems ive ever seen with them. I personally like solder and shrink wrap :thumleft:

with your own spray gun? i was thinking of trying to get a compressor and gun but i think the guy down the street might let me use his. its just crazy what a good paint job costs. but i dont want anything crazy just green on the top half above the trim and then be liner on the bottom half.

the solder is a good idea i just got a mini torch and solder cam with it. do you just lay the wires on top of each other then melt solder on to it. you dont need flux for that right? and i just got introduced to shrink wrap. its so awesome and easy. i just read that the crimps ive been using were the worst ones and to get weatherproof ones with the shrink coating on them.

Yes I thought id try my hand at it so i bought it and its alright its a practice learning thing. flux is better but i just place the two ends toghter and twist to interlock the strands. then i heat from the bottom since heat rises and push the solder from the top.
