Coil getting wet,shorting out,relocation considered!?

Postby Fred Average » Thu Mar 27, 2014 8:46 am

1992 D250,360,Auto,55K Miles.

The coil is mounted at the top of the firewall,in the center.

When it rains or the truck is washed, water pours DIRECTLY onto it:-(

Anyone relocate theirs or did MOPAR make/offer a shield or cover to prevent this?

Thanks All! ;)

What's a coil for?
pete

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Not exactly the same thing, but our voltage regulator is mounted where your coil is and our exhaust manifold runs right under it. I was more worried about the heat killing it than water, so I ran it over on the passenger fender and extended the wires.

It's shouldn't be a big deal, just drill a couple holes in it somewhere and mount the coil up.

Thanks for the suggestion... :)
I was considering that location,or inside the cab in the same area as we've done on our circle track race cars.
