Any Ideas? Bypassing/Overiding the VSS Vehicle Speed Sensor.

Postby Fred Average » Wed Apr 16, 2014 4:22 pm

As some of you know, when this fails=no overdrive, which is "no fun" with a 4:10 rear end :(

Anyone know how to do this?

1992 D250 360 V8 2WD,automatic transmission is the application.

Is it just an issue of connecting the two wires together, make a jumper to bypass the switch or is there other electrical issues?

Thank You All for any help. :)

I know a lot of people bypass the TPS and the VSS completely. Wiring the two control wires to just the on off switch. The only thing is that you have to manually control the overdrive coming on or off but I would personally prefer that myself. One wire should be a 12v power and the other coming off the trans should be a ground. All you have to do is to interrupt either one of the signals and that should be it.
