FSS Wiring

Postby matthewh » Thu Jul 17, 2014 3:29 pm

So today before work, was doing alittle PM, and finally getting around to fixing the intermittent shut off issue I've had since buying this truck. That, and the gf wasn't thrilled last time it died going down the freeway, and having to sit there while I jiggled the wires.

So, on the FSS, there's 2 wires, and on my '93 there is a bigger gauge light blue one, that hooks to the spade pointing the drivers side fender, and a smaller gauge, looks like a green/brown, that hooks to the spade pointing straight back.

Forgive me if the colors are off, it was hard to see, and I'm part color blind,

I looked in Ellis posted elec diagrams, but didn't see them mentioned, though there hard to read on the phone.

Anyways, the blue one was alittle loose, so I cleaned up the terminals, crimped the female part abit, die elec greased it up and back one it went. The other one was loose too, but had white powdery crap in the socket, so i scraped and sanded clean, as well as the terminal, crimped it alittle, greased it and reinstalled.

Just wondered what those wires went to in relation to the FSS operation

Thanks

I think that powers the KSB circuit.

1 is power going to the FSS, and like Jon said, the other one sends power to the thermistor for the KSB.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Ok, thanks guys. Gf and I are headed to southern Michigan tomorrow to visit family and build a deck, should find out if I got the connections fixed or not

I'd take the end off the blue one and crimp on an eye, then put it straight on the stud the blades bolt onto.

The KSB is less important so you could just leave it as a blade setup.
