New vss and speedo still bounces all over.....

Postby Dan NJ » Tue Sep 09, 2014 6:53 pm

So while I'm driving it will bounce up to 50 then back down. What I have noticed if as I hit the throttle it will bounce up but when I let off it sits as 0.

Any advice would be appreciated guys

Check your vss connection. Those barrel connector prongs can be loose and cause this.

Fwiw the sensors I buy (have bought) came with one.

Are you talking about the wires connecting it to the harness or plug? Cuz the wires I soldered in and shrink wrapped

The plug for the sensor itself.

Check the drive that the VSS goes into. Make sure stuff isn't all worn out, causing the drive for the VSS to slip and catch.

That's what I was kind of thinking , can I buy one of them new from anywhere?
The truck was auto and at the same exact time the trans blew the speedo dropped out, now I have a nv4500 in it with the original 23spline 205 (I built a 29/23 adapter). The odometer still clicks away no issue
